Summer Sunshine!

Yellow is a colour that seems to sum up a lovely sunshiny summer's day, so it was the perfect colour for Lauren and James's beautiful country style wedding in July. I just loved creating the flower designs to suit their theme, with a predominance of daisy-shaped flowers, touches of lace and hessian and designs with a 'freshly gathered' appeal. Lemon yellow with white/ivory is such a lovely fresh-looking colour scheme and lends itself to flower designs with a rustic/country style - think of daisies with their pretty white petals and bright yellow centres, lemon yellow 'snap dragons' and the bright yellow 'buttons' of craspedia. But of course the simple daisy shape of Lauren's favourite gerberas provides one of the best flowers for this look - we chose the smaller lemon yellow 'germini' varieties with their dark centres, mixed with white/ivory germinis with lemon/green 'eyes'. I just loved the relaxed country look of this flower mix!

Congratulations to Lauren and James and thanks so much for letting me include some of your fabulous photos taken by Chris Brudenell (thanks to you too Chris!).

Bride's bouquet with lemon yellow gerberas

Lauren's pretty country style hand tied bouquet included germinis in yellow and white, with ivory roses, daisies, craspedia and with a collar of dainty white gypsophila to complete the rustic look.

Lemon yellow and white bride's bouquet

I love the way that the dainty white gypsophila 'collar' around Lauren's bouquet picked up the detailing and lace of her gorgeous dress

Yellow & white bridesmaid posies

The bridesmaids carried rustic style posies featuring white germinis and daisies with yellow  centres to pick up on the lemon yellow colour of their dresses

lemon yellow gerbera posy

The maid of honour's posy included plenty of yellow flowers to provide contrast against her navy blue dress

Gerbera buttonhole

Gerberas made the perfect buttonholes for the groom and his men too!

Country style jar of yellow and white flowers

Glass jars trimmed with hessian and lace and filled with a handlful of freshly picked flowers in shades of yellow and white provided the perfect decoration for the centre of the guest tables and worked perfectly with Lauren's lemon yellow decorations

Yellow and white top table flowers

The same mix of pretty yellow and white flowers was used to decorate the top table for the wedding breakfast - fresh green foliage helps to offset the colours and add to the natural country style.

Lauren and James were delighted with how their wedding flowers helped to bring their ideas for their special day alive, especially as many couples don't think about trying yellow - now you have seen their photos you might think again! If you would like to talk through your ideas for your own wedding flowers - even if you're not too sure about what you are looking for - do feel free to get in touch. I'm always happy to talk about flowers!
