Spring Wedding

Ooh I do love a spring wedding – always a good way to start the year and the whole ‘new beginnings’ feel seems to be very appropriate! It’s a really good idea to embrace all those beautiful spring flowers too as many of them are not available in the summer months, so your flowers will definitely help to make your wedding stand out.

Steph and Matt were keen on the idea of simple flowers designs in a natural style and incorporating plenty of seasonal materials. They chose plenty of white and ivory flowers offset by fresh green foliage and mixed with sky blue and touches of bright yellow to bring the scheme alive. I’m sure you’ll agree the results were fabulous!

Bride's hand tied spring bouquet

Steph’s natural style hand tied bouquet included mainly white flowers, such as roses, anemones, ranunculus, narcissi and genista, with touches of blue muscari, forget-me-nots and veronica. Yellow is such a great colour for spring that touches were brought in by including daisies and narcissi with their yellow centres – this also helped the flowers to work with the men’s outfits, as you will see later…

Spring bridesmaid posy in white and blue

Similar flowers and colours were used for the bridesmaid posies, but these were kept to a simpler style. The colours worked perfectly with the girls’ pale silvery blue dresses.

Groom's spring buttonhole

And as you can see Matt and his groomsmen wore spring flowers in their buttonholes too – with craspedia included to pick up the bright yellow colour of their ties and hankies.

Spring flower arrangement

For the flower arrangements used to decorate the wedding ceremony and reception the same mix of pretty spring flowers was used, but for these designs pale pink tulips and ranunculus were added in too – what could be better on a lovely spring day!

And to continue the theme, simple glass jars and bottles were filled with bunches of pastel-coloured spring flowers for a natural freshly picked look, which finished off the guest tables perfectly.

If you would like to see more of the flowers from this lovely spring wedding it is now showing in my featured gallery, so do take a look…

My thanks to Steph and Matt for letting me share some of the flower images taken by Buckinghamshire Wedding Photographer Louise, from Beaulieu Photography, together with some of my own.
